No is Not a Curse Word

Link Year Week 5:

Life is short so live it to the fullest, never say no to an opportunity and never turn down a friend. My mindset throughout high school career could be boiled down to. I didn't ever want to say no to and opportunity for fear of missing out on something. The problem with this is that I never could commit fully to any plans just in case a seemingly better option arose. The idea of feeling unable to say no put me in a permanent state of frenzy. I felt obligate to say yes and as many could attest, its not easy to say no, especially to a friend of yours.

Quite obviously it is an unsustainable lifestyle if you cannot turn down an offer from anyone. You will constantly be busy. Your own goals will most likely fall by the wayside. You have to be willing to say no and to stand up for your own preferences or beliefs then you will find that you will be ran around for the rest of your life. If you do not wish to partake of an activity you shouldn't feel obligated to say yes to anyone.

Even this week there were a few opportunities presented to me or things asked of me that I did not wish to do but because I am often uncomfortable with saying no I went along, conversely there were many times when I simply declined the offer. It was not the end of the world and in fact I was able to be productive. No is not a curse word so don't feel like you shouldn't say it. Sometimes no is the best thing you can say.
