The Last Days

Link Year 12:

After getting back to the states from Ireland we went straight to Florida to enjoy a week off for spring break. Over the week in Florida I really began to think about the balance of making sure to work hard as we approach the finish line but also trying to maintain relationships and spend time before we all leave Branson and go our separate ways. It seems often one has to choose between memories and a future and I have wrestled with the balance even since high school. The last months of Senior year had me thinking on the subject often, I was so eagerly awaiting the future that I often forgot to relish the moment while it lasted. So many people passed in and out of my life and I can't help but wonder who I never met or what I had missed. The trick of course is not to get caught up in the past either. While in Africa I was often struck with how sincere and focused the people were; they lived in the moment. They lived life with their eyes open and so much in America we spend so much time planning for the future that we never really live. We can learn from our past but we can't let ourselves get stuck in it, we can plan for the future but we cannot let ourselves obsess over it lest it will steal our joy. The past is gone and the future is not a guarantee so enjoy what God has given you and live life to the fullest through service and share the love you have received with the world.
