A Chance for Peace

Link Year Week 13:

There's this iconic scent in "Evan Almighty" where God is talking to the wife of the main character, Evan, in a restaurant. As Evans wife seems distressed about events happening in her family God asks her "if you pray for courage, is God going to give you courage or a situation that requires courage... if you ask to be close as a family is he going to make you close or is he going to give you an opportunity to be close as a family. While this movie is a comedy and is far from reality it hits truth right on the nail in this instance.

I have been praying all year for peace and trust in the sufficiency of Jesus sacrifice to cover my sins. And in the moment it felt like my prayers were falling in deaf ears. Looking back over he course of the last few months at Link I've come to realize that he has answered my prayers. Not in ways I would expect. He's given me the chance to love and put my in situations where I must rely on his grace and sacrifice because I fall short every time. While it may have appeared to be the exact opposite of what I wanted it turned out to be exactly what I needed.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:2-5
